S4C is subject to Welsh Language Standards under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011. The standards do not apply to the channel's broadcasting activities but with other activities S4C must comply with a number of standards. They were issued on 25 July 2016 and came into effect from 25 January 2017 onwards.
